"The Lord paused and raised his hand.
The angels ceased their encircling flight.
In a voice that thundered out across the abyss, the
Creator cried: I shall create a second heavenly realm.
This space shall be visible. So, also, shall it have
measure!
'Visible?' said Exalta, puzzling over the meaningless
word.
'Measure?' added Gloir, doing much the same.
'We do not know what this means, do we?' queried Exalta.
'No! But we will in just a moment,' replied his
companion.
Creator lifted his hands, raised his head, and spoke.
'Let there be light.'
Suddenly light burst into being and raced across what a
moment before had been nothingness.
Ascending from the throat of every angel came a
delighted 'Ooooo!'
'Why, you can see it!' whispered Exalta.
The light spread out across a sphere that was vast even
by angelic standards. Nonetheless, this realm, unlike
the heavenlies, had limits.
'In every direction you can find its ends,' observed a
bemused Gloir.
Something deep within the angels let them know that
this second realm, unlike their realm, was temporal.
It was not forever. 'Visible?' pondered Exalta. 'And
limited.'
'And temporal,' added Gloir.
With a furrowed brow, Gloir turned to Exalta.
'What does it mean?'
'I do not know,' responded an equally baffled Exalta.
'It is obvious that the finite and the visible are too
great a thing for our infinite spirits to grasp.'
