At SoAmazing.com we use two types
of cardstock for printing out our SoAmazing Cards. Our preferred Cardstock
is a heavy photo paper made by Epson. We also use a less expensive option
which we purchase from OfficeMax, but is also available from many local
office supply stores. (See our page: "Buy Cardstock" for details.)
Neither type of Cardstock is perforated.
The problem with using perforated business cardstock is that it is
very difficult to line up cards printed off the Internet with the perforations.
Print programs from applications on your PC work well, but
there are too many variables to try to cover when printing from the Internet.
Among the variables is that while each user controls the setting of print margins
on his PC, most end up using the default margin settings on their computer which
vary from operating system to operating system.
The best method of cutting the cards is by hand with a pair of
scissors. Using a paper cutter is frustrating
because the Internet does not allow cards to be printed out
with precise alignment either horizontally or
vertically. And, the paper cutter wants to go in a straight line!
There are some situations where printing out the cards on regular
computer or copy paper works fine. But this caution, you end up
with the size, shape and look of a card, but it does not feel or act
like a card.
