Mere mortals can do a lot of of damage. They can speak falsely, commit unloving
acts, abuse and abandon us both physically and emotionally, generate
circumstances with adverse consequences, physically injure us, and even kill
us.
Many battle courageously to heal deep wounds inflicted by mere mortals. The
healing process is greatly enhanced if we choose to walk with God. If we
choose to walk with God, we abandon powerlessness. We are no longer alone. We
have an advocate. He is there for us. We can take our hurts, bad feelings, and
miserable experiences and place them in the outstretched hands of our
all-knowing, all-loving God. Issues of fairness and justice can be left to him.
God can assure our souls will be eternally safe. Mere mortals will more than meet
their match.
A Prayer begins . . .
Our Father in heaven, we know the damage mere mortals can do. It is
frightening. We seek refuge in you. We give you our hurts, bad feelings and miserable
experiences. Help us deal with them. Show us how to trust in you completely, secure our
eternal future, and go forward unafraid.

"You hear it a thousand times and more growing up in the East--'We all come through
different routes and end up in the same place.' But I say to you, God is not a place or an
experience or a feeling. Pluralistic cultures are beguiled by the cosmetically courteous
idea that sincerity or privilege of birth is all that counts and the truth is subject to
the beholder. In no other discipline of life can one be so naive as to claim inherited
belief or insistent belief as the sole determiner of truth. Why then, do we make the
catastrophic error of thinking that all religions are right and that it does not matter
whether the claims they make are objectively true?'
All religions are not the same. All religions do not point to God. All religions do
not say that all religions are the same. At the heart of every
religion is an uncompromising commitment to a particular way of defining who God is or is
not and accordingly, of defining life's purpose.
Anyone who claims that all religions are the same betrays not only an ignorance of all
religions but also a caricatured view of even the best-known ones. Every religion at its
core is exclusive."
SoAmazing Review: Ravi Zacharias supplies facts and
arguments to demonstrate that the world's religions do not all point to God and are, at
their core, exclusive. Jesus Among Other Gods is illuminating.

"At the point of departure, I have chosen Jesus' words 'Do not worry.' Worrying has become
such a part and parcel of our daily life that a life without worries seems not only
impossible, but even undesirable. We have a suspicion that to be carefree is unrealistic
and--worse--dangerous. Our worries motivate us to work hard, to prepare ourselves for the
future, and to arm ouselves against impending threats. Yet Jesus says, 'Do not worry; do
not say, 'What are we to eat? What are we to drink? How are we to be clothed?' . . . Your
heavenly father knows you need them all. Set your hearts on his kingdom first . . . and
all these other things will be given you as well.' With this radical and 'unrealistic'
counsel, Jesus points to the possibility of a life without worries, a life in which all
things are being made new. Since I hope to describe the spiritual life in which the Spirit
of God can recreate us as truly free people, I have called this book Making All things
New."
SoAmazing Review: Henri Nouwen wrote more than forty books. All
of his books that I have read, including this one, are characterized by Nouwen's gentle
spirit and earnest wish to plainly present spiritual truths. He has succeeded.
