Shear Abundance
Category: Christian Living Keywords: harvest, vine,
branches, prune, vinedresser, abundance, God, Christian, Multnomah Publishers, Inc.,
Wilkinson, Bruce Wilkinson
"God's strategy for coaxing a greater harvest out of His branches is not the one you and
I would prefer. His plan is to prune, which means to thin, to reduce, to cut off.
As unthinkable as it sounds--as contradictory as it is--the Vinedresser's secret for
more is . . . less.
Are you ready for a troubling truth that, once grasped, will free you to view the trials
you're now facing in a new light? Even change how you feel about them and reward you
with a beautiful harvest for God?
Then you're ready for the second secret of the vine: If your life bears some fruit, God will intervene to prune you.
If necessary, He will risk your misunderstanding of His methods and motives. His purpose is for you to cut
away immature commitments and lesser priorities to make room for even great abundance for
His glory."
SoAmazing Review: Do you want to live a meaningful
life? Secrets of the Vine explains the process God uses to increase the
fruit you bear as a Christian.

Focus Precedes Success
Category: Christian Living, Spiritual Life Keywords: purpose,
vision for life, Bobb Biehl, Alice in Wonderland, God, Cheshire Cat, Multnomah Publishers, Hendricks, Howard Hendricks
"Having a vision for one's life is essential for every believer. I'm afraid churches today are full of people who have busy lifestyles, but barren lives.
Their schedules are filled with activity, but devoid of accomplishment. So they wonder,
'What is God's purpose for me? Why am I here on this planet?' They are lacking in a
clear vision for life, and so they struggle to find meaning and purpose.
I like Bobb Biehl's observation that 'focus precedes success.' That's because when you
have a vision for your life, you have direction. You have an idea of where you want to
end up.
Have you thought about where you want to end up? I'm afraid many people haven't.
Consequently, they end up nowhere. They remind me of Alice in Wonderland, who asked the
Cheshire Cat which path she should take.
'That depends upon where you want to go,' replied the Cheshire Cat.
'Oh, it really doesn't matter where I go,' said Alice.
'Then it doesn't matter which path you choose,' answered the Cheshire Cat."
SoAmazing Review: In Standing Together
Howard Hendricks challenges us to stand with God, invest our lives in others and focus
on a proper mission. And, he assures us that if we do, we will live a life worth living.
