He Really Loves Us!
Why have we put our trust in God?
Because we know how much he loves us.
A Prayer begins . . .
Gracious God, you deserve our praise. Show us your mighty power. Guide us
in practical ways to put love into action. We trust you because you love us.

You are on our mind as we carefully select the book quotations. The quotations must tell a story, make a point,
inspire you, challenge your mind or touch your heart. In addition, they need to expose the
writer's style, ability and knowledge. Hopefully, we've done it well enough to wet your
appetite so you'll want to read the whole book. You can buy any book at the Clickle
of your mouse. The "Buy Now" links at the end of each quotation give you three great
Internet booksellers from which to choose.

Hey You! Turn Around!
Category: Christian Living, Spiritual Life
ISBN: 0824519671
Keywords: mime, ridiculous, hilarious, locked doors, conversion, God, turn around, heart, kingdom,
freedom, Crossroad, Nouwen, Henri J. M. Nouwen
"Once I saw a mime in which a man was straining to open one of the three doors in the
room where he found himself. He pushed and pulled at the door knobs, but none of the
doors would open. Then he kicked with his feet against the wooden panels of the door,
but they didn't break. Finally, he threw his full weight against the doors, but none of
them yielded.
It was a ridiculous, yet very hilarious sight, because the man was so concentrated
on the three locked doors that he didn't even notice that the room had no back wall and
that he could simply walk out if he would only turn around and look!
SoAmazing Review: Nouwen's insightful observations
alternately delight, inspire, challenge or comfort me. This is a good read!

Depressed?
Category: Christian Living
ISBN: 0877886598
Keywords: diseases, body, depression, pray, empty heaven,
misery, torture, self-condemnation, love, prayers, light,
dark tunnel, encouragement, Harold Shaw Publishers,
Phillips, J. B. Phillips
"There are diseases of the body which produce depression of mind, a phenomenon which
many of us have experienced after recovering from influenza or some other virus
infection. The color, the meaning and the point of life simply disappears for a time.
We pray apparently to an empty heaven, and in our misery we torture ourselves by brutal
self-condemnation. There are however those who have to endure such conditions month
after month, and even year after year. We who know something of God's love can truly
help them by our love and our prayers. There IS light at the end of their dark tunnel.
In the meantime we may help them far more by our encouragement than perhaps we know."
SoAmazing Review: If you or someone you know has
experienced depression it will be worthwhile to read about J. B. Phillips' struggle
with depression (see Chapter 14).
