Love Acts!
Love is merely a platitude if action is
absent. Christ demonstrated real love to you when he gave up his life.
How do you show real love? If you have enough money to live well, do you
still refuse to help when you see a brother or sister in need? Are you
too busy pursuing your own goals to spend a few minutes with a hurting
friend? Do you help out at home doing the routine tasks? We must love one
another with real acts of kindness.
A Prayer begins . . .
Gracious God, we love you. Help us to live gratefully now and forevermore.
Show us your mighty power. Guide us in practical ways to put love into action.

Marriage Drift
Category: Christian Living
ISBN: 1561792179
Keywords: affairs, office, Christian, marriages, common ground, couples, isolation, focus, Focus On The Family Publishing, Miller, Kevin Miller, Karen Miller
"We were shocked to learn that 55 percent of all affairs begin at the office. The fact
is, sharing goals pulls people together. Men and women grow closer through their work,
and suddenly they find they have more in common than their jobs.
Why can't this same powerful force--working together toward a common goal--pull our
Christian marriages together? Let's face it: Today we need all the common ground we
can find.
Like most couples today, Karen and I spend the longest portion of the day--our best
hours--miles apart. Even though we call each other, our workday interests and
conversations are radically different. My mind is mostly on magazine deadlines, while
Karen thinks about graduate classes and kids.
Dennis Rainey warns, 'Every marriage, given its own course, will naturally drift toward
isolation, two people separate from one another.'
Karen and I want to stop that natural drift toward isolation. Whenever we minister
together, we build
into our week precious hours where we focus on exactly the same
thing at the same time. That's a powerful practice, and it builds marriages."
SoAmazing Review: In More Than You and Me, the Millers identify "marriage
drift" and then focus on remedies. Couples who share common tasks and a mutually developed
marriage mission statement have a basis for deepening their relationship,
increasing their love and strengthening their commitment.

Live With Integrity
Category: Christian Living
ISBN: 0310233151
Keywords: Aristotle,
persuasion, logic, passion, integrity, world, Gandhi, Jesus, Christianity, beliefs,
Zondervan Publishing House, Staub, Dick Staub
"In his classic ancient Greek work on rhetoric, Aristotle said there are three
components in persuasion: logic (logos), passion (pathos), and integrity(ethos).
He believed that all the logic and passion in the world would not persuade a person
who could observe that your life didn't match your words. Only when you state
your case reasonably, passionately, and with integrity will it carry
great weight.
I am reminded of a famous story of Gandhi who, when making his first trip to England
in 1930, disembarked in Southampton and while still on the gangway was overwhelmed by
journalists asking questions. One of them asked, 'Mr. Gandhi, what do you think of
Western civilization?' Mr. Gandhi replied, 'I think it would be a good idea.'
Today many people have heard of Jesus, but think Christianity is only an idea or
set of beliefs because they have never seen it in action. Yet the single most credible
argument on behalf of Christianity is its demonstration in the life of an individual
follower of Jesus.
SoAmazing Review: In Too Christian,
Too Pagan, Dick Staub urges Christians to live the life and walk the walk. It is a
how-to book on lifestyle evangelism.
