Love Acts!
We have been created in the image of God,
and he has graciously offered to dwell in us by his Spirit. We know that
God is love so let us experience again and again the joy and excitement
of giving generously to those in need. For love is its own reward.
Can you help a member of your family? Do it. Do you have a
friend who is in need? Help him. Is there a charitable organization or
church ministry you should support? Take action. With hospitality,
encouraging words and acts of kindness, let us love one another.
A Prayer begins . . .
Heavenly Father, we honor your name. In the varied course of each day, help
us to be loyal to our families and our friends. May our willingness to do good be
followed by action!

Jesus Was Not Just A Great Moral Teacher
Category: Christian Living
ISBN: 0060652888
Keywords: prevent, foolish,
Jesus, moral teacher, God, lunatic, poached egg, Devil of Hell, Son of God, madman, fool,
demon, Lord, Collier Books, Lewis, C. S. Lewis
"I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say
about Him: 'I'm ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don't accept His
claim to be God.' That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and
said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be
a lunatic--on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg--or else he would be the
Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is the Son of God: or
else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and
kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us
not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not
left that open to us. He did not intend to."
SoAmazing Review: In Mere Christianity,
perhaps C. S. Lewis' most famous book, he stripped Christianity down to its barest
minimum. Merely those items to which all Christians, Catholics and Orthodox Christians can agree.

I Bear No Grudge

In 1987 an IRA bomb went off in a small town west of Belfast, amid a group of Protestants who had
gathered to honor the war dead on Veteran's Day. Eleven people died and sixty-three
others were wounded. What made this act of terrorism stand out from so many others was
the response of one of the wounded, Gordon Wilson, a devout Methodist who had emigrated
north from the Irish Republic to work as a draper.
The bomb buried Wilson and his twenty-year-old daughter under five feet of concrete and
brick. 'Daddy, I love you very much,' were the last words Marie spoke, grasping her
father's hand as they waited for the rescuers. She suffered severe spinal and brain
injuries, and died a few hours later in the hospital.
A newspaper later proclaimed, 'No one remembers what the politicians had to say at the
time. No one who heard Gordon Wilson will ever forget what he confessed . . . . His
grace
towered over the miserable justifications of the bombers.' Speaking from his hospital
bed, Wilson said, 'I have lost my daughter, but I bear no grudge. Bitter talk is not
going to bring Marie Wilson back to life. I shall pray, tonight and every night, that God
will forgive them.' "
SoAmazing Review: What's So Amazing About
Grace? is my favorite of Yancey's books. What distinguishes Christianity from
every other religion is grace. Grace--God's marvelous, wonderous, so amazing grace.
Yancey explains grace as well as it has ever been explained.
