What's KJV?

Isn't it time the initials that follow many of the Bible verses on this website are explained? The initials "KJV" stand for the "King James Version."

Rich Scott, writer of the SoAmazing Letter says this about the King James Version, "The King James Version has been around for hundreds of years. It is the standard against which all the new modern translations are judged. It still is the Bible owned by far more people than any other translation. And, although the words are old, they are familiar to many of us.

I learned many passages and individual verses from the King James Version as I was growing up and remember many of them to this date.

Many of the verses have worked their way into poplular usage so that those who do not know the Bible well are surprised to find that a common expression they use comes from it.
