SoAmazing Facts 6
Orange words, stray numbers and all the free stuff at SoAmazing.com should be still resonating in your skull cavity from the last issue of your SoAmazing Facts. In a moment you will have to make room in your brain for two other great "inside" facts and one oh-so-subtle pitch. You are on your way to a master's degree in webpage design!
SoAmazing Fact 1
You've learned about two of the site's navigation systems: surfing the site by means of a Clickle on the hidden and not-so-obvious links, and by means of the Bible verses in the left navigation column and the top and bottom banners. Now it is time to introduce the third navigation system.
Very few websites let you read the site page after page like a book. It isn't easy to do. It takes some planning and a site that has content organizable in a manner suitable to reading like a book. Well, SoAmazing.com is such a site!
At the bottom of every main content page there is a "Next" link! Just Clickle that link and it will take you to the next page. Duh! Read the pages in order till you run out of pages or until the last page takes you back to the first. By the time you get back to the first page you will want to read them all again. It can become addictive. Start with this
page!
SoAmazing Fact 2
In webpage design a standard navigation scheme has emerged. The more sophisticated the site, the more likely it will follow the standard navagation scheme. The standard pattern is this: first, buttons or tabs, which are used the same as buttons, run across the top of the page just below the site's logo and top banner. SoAmazing.com includes the standard navigation scheme.
On SoAmazing.com's site we have four buttons across the top of the page. A "Home" button, which takes you to the site's home page, an "About Us" button, that takes you to a page which, in a remarkable coincidence, is about Shadrach, Inc., the company that owns the site, a button to "Signup" which, interestingly, takes you to a page to signup for free to become a participating member of SoAmazing.com and get the free SoAmazing Letter and the free SoAmazing Facts emails, and finally, the "Merchants" button which will take you to the page with the Merchants Directory.
Second, it is standard practice to use text links in the left navigation column which will take you to important sections of the site and important individual pages of the site. SoAmazing.com has those text links high up in the left navigation column.
And, third, more text links located at the bottom of the page. SoAmazing.com has these links, as well. They are located just below the bottom banner. Just scroll down any main content page and you will see these links.
Having standardized buttons and text links for navigation allows Internet users, like yourself and me, to reach the important pages of the site easily no matter where on the page we may be.
Take a quick look at our home page
and you will spot the standard navigation scheme.
Got Your Catcher's Mitt?
Here's the Pitch. It is important to us and I think important to you to consider an organized approach to reading our main content pages. Of course, you are in control and will do what you want, but, perhaps it would help if you knew how we designed the pages and how we think is the best way to read the pages.
Here it goes. On arrival at a page, read the Bible verse on the banner, check out the SoAmazing Card, read our thoughts, pray the short prayer along with us, read the two selected book quotations below, then spend some time on the left navigation column, check out the Bible verses, take note of the blatant pitches to buy things, then pick a Bible verse or other link and Clickle to your heart's desire! Congratulations! You've covered the surface of the page. But there is more, much more.
Fortunately, as readers of these SoAmazing Facts emails you are rapidly learning about the hidden links, hidden messages and not-so-obvious links. So you know some of what is below the surface of the page the casual visitors are missing.
That’s it for today. Read more pages and learn.
Your friendly pitcher,

SoAmazing.com
PS There are tremendous benefits to you from printing out the SoAmazing Cards and memorizing them, using them as reminders and handing them out to friends!
